Microscope focusing

The light microscope is a type of microscope that is commonly used in biology laboratories. They are essential for observations of small organisms that are too small to be seen by the naked eye! 🔬🧐⠀

Using the microscope can be frustrating at times when you can’t find your samples! Here are some steps to note when using them:⠀
1) Start off at the lowest magnification power objective lens (usually 4X). *This is to prevent you from crashing & damaging the objective lenses into the stage/sample. ⠀
2) Place the slide /dish at the centre of the stage so it’s directly under the lens.⠀
3) Adjust the coarse focus/adjustment knob (big knob) until you see your sample of focus. *Do not force the knob, if it’s tight when turning, it may have reached the maximum height, or the lens may be touching the slide/dish.⠀
4) Adjust the fine focus/adjustment knob (small knob) until you obtained a clear image of your sample. ⠀
5) Switch to the next magnification power one at a time, & readjust the focus using the fine adjustment knob for a clear image at the higher magnification. Repeat for the next magnification. ⠀
6) When you’re done with the microscopy, return the magnification lens to the lowest power for the next user.⠀
