Usually, in monolayer cell culture, if you see cell clumps upon passage when you’re not supposed to, it is likely that the cells were not dispersed to single cells during trypsinization. Cell clumping can affect cell growth as it decreases the cell’s access to nutrients. This can affect the reproducibility of experiments!⠀
