Cell culture medium

The bicarbonate buffering system is often used in the cell culture medium to maintain its pH (H+ concentration). This system is also used in our blood to buffer our blood pH! The bicarbonates (HCO3-) work in tandem with CO2 to stabilize the pH at 7.4 at specific concentration & 5% CO2 level.
