Buffer solution

A buffer solution consists of a weak acid (HA) and its conjugate base (A-) or weak base and its conjugate acid. HA dissociates in water to form A- and H3O+. Due to the equilibrium between HA and A-, buffer solutions resist changes in pH when a small amount of strong acid or base is added to it. Hence, they are used to maintain the pH of a solution. Some examples of buffers include carbonic acid in cell media, Tris & HEPES. What other buffers have you used before?😁
